2013 North Dakota Football Season Kicks Off Tonight

My first post coincides with a big date on the prep sports calendar. Another North Dakota high school football season is about to get underway. Tonight 9-man has a full slate of games and there also is one 1A and 2A game on the full composite schedule. Here are the games tonight in The Forum’s coverage area:

West Fargo Sheyenne (JV) at Kindred, 8 p.m.
Fargo Oak Grove at Hankinson, 7 p.m.
Richland at Wyndmere-Lidgerwood, 7 p.m.
LaMoure-Litchville-Marion at Sargent Central, 7 p.m.
Hatton-Northwood at Finley-Sharon-Hope-Page, 7 p.m.
North Star at New Rockford-Sheyenne, 7 p.m.

West Fargo Sheyenne will be playing its first game under head coach Jeremy Newton. … The Mustangs are playing a mostly JV schedule this fall and will enter their first full-varsity season next fall (2014). … Fargo Oak Grove will be playing its first 9-man football game this evening against Hankinson. … Grovers head coach Derek Bakken is the team’s third different head coach in the last four years, but is optimistic Oak Grove will improve on its 0-8 season it had in 1A last fall. … New Rockford-Sheyenne begins its 9-man title defense this evening against North Star. … The Rockets finished the 2012 campaign 12-0.
