Here are your top area performances in Minnesota for Week 4 of high school football.

Dillon Card – Verndale

Verndale scored 56 points in the Pirates 56-8 win over Hillcrest Lutheran Academy and Card had a hand on six touchdowns to get the Pirates to 4-0. He rushed for 223 yards, including touchdown runs of 1, 2 and 43 yards, returned a punt 89 yards for a touchdown, took back an interception 35 yards for a touchdown and found Will Kramer for a 15-yard touchdown pass.

Michael Strand – Barnesville

Strand had 10 carries for 92 yards and four touchdowns and hauled in a touchdown pass in Barnesville’s 68-12 win over United North Central.

Chad Johnson – Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton

It’s Week 4 and D-G-F has surpassed its win total from last season after the Rebels 33-7 win over Breckenridge to move to 3-1. Large part of that goes to Johnson, who had 267 yards rushing, including touchdown runs of 76 and 17 yards, on 17 carries for the Rebels.

Payton Jordahl – Perham

Jordahl did what leaders do when a team stumbles and carry Perham in their 13-6 win over Crookston a week after falling 21-7 to Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton. He had 130 yards rushing and two touchdowns on 17 carries to go along with seven tackles and a forced fumble on defense.

Jordam Harms – Hawley

Harms was 4-for-8 for 103 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for a touchdown in Hawley’s 47-0 win over Roseau. Harms found Dalton Leaf for a 33-yard TD pass and Dillon Omberg for a 25-yard TD reception.

Christian Hedstrom/Jarret Nosal – Detroit Lakes

Hedstrom and Nosal combined for 290 yards and four touchdowns on 10 carries in the Lakers 48-6 win over Staples-Motley. Hedstrom had 98 yards and two TDs on seven carries and Nosal had 92 yards and two TDs on three carries.

Austin Rund – Fergus Falls

Rund had a 24-yard touchdown pass to Drew Pearson and ran for two touchdowns in Week 4. The Otters needed all of it to top Sauk Rapids-Rice 35-34 and get back to .500.

JD Kappes/Blake Fetting/Lance Ruebke – Ada-Borup

Seemingly every week is a decision of which one of these three should make the players of the week list. Week 4 was impossible to pick, as Kappes was 22-for-28 for 200 yards and four touchdowns through the air, Fetting had 58 yards and three touchdowns rushing, 60 yards and a TD receiving and threw for 48 yards – while going 7-for-8 on extra points – and Ruebke had 60 rushing yards, 11 catches for 110 yards and a TD in Ada-Borup’s 55-33 win over Park Christian.

Mahnomen’s defense

Only Mahnomen could come away with a 60-0 win and have no real standout. Tommy Pavek had 47 yards rushing and two TDs, Bob Bjorge had a rushing TD and a touchdown catch, Mitch Foss had 75 yards rushing and two TDs, but the Indians defense was ridiculous.

The Indians held Walker-Hackensack-Akely to 19 yards of offense in the team’s third shutout of the season. W-H-A had -14 yards rushing.
