Shanley Hoops Standout Strom Chooses St. John’s

Fargo Shanley senior Patrick Strom has committed to play basketball at St. John’s University in Collegeville, Minn.

Strom, a 6-foot-2 guard helped the Deacons to a 21-4 record during the 2012-13 season, which was capped off by a North Dakota Class A state championship.

Strom averaged 19.7 points per game last season, which ranked sixth in the Eastern Dakota Conference. He led the conference in 3-pointers made with 90, including 11 in one game on Jan. 11.

Strom said his father is a Johnnie and his mother attended the College of Saint Benedict, which neighbors St. John’s. He was very familiar with St. John’s and said he’s excited to already have his decision made before his senior basketball season starts.

St. John’s competes in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

Strom also competes in football and tennis for the Deacons.

    Great Choice! So many of todays bball players think they are D1 or D2, its nice to see that a very good HS player picked a D3 school
