On the same evening (Tuesday, October 29) the regular season champions of both the Eastern Dakota Conference and Western Dakota Association were crowned.
Fargo Shanley (24-2, 15-1 EDC) clinched its second consecutive regular-season conference championship with a 21-25, 25-18, 25-15, 25-11 win over Fargo Davies at McCormick Gymnasium.
Jamestown (28-3, 14-0 WDA) clinched its first-ever WDA regular season championship with a 3-0 sweep over defending North Dakota Class A state champions Bismarck Century.
The Blue Jays and Deacons will be the No. 1 seeds for their respective region tournaments, which begin in two weeks.
The West Region tournament is set for Nov. 14-16 at Jamestown High School.
The East Region tournament begins Nov. 12 at home sites and moves to Valley City High School on Nov. 15-16.
Shanley has advanced to the East Region championship game the last three seasons and has lost to Grand Forks Red River all three times.
Jamestown is having its best volleyball season in school history and will be looking to make its fourth state tournament appearance.
