Here are your top area performances from the first week of Minnesota high school football.
Ben Ellefson – Hawley
Ellefson was everywhere on the field for Hawley in their 18-6 win over Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton. He rushed for 29 yards and a touchdown on six carries, hauled in four passes for 111 yards and a touchdown and was in on 14 tackles for the Nuggets.
Hunter Thompson – Norman County East-Ulen-Hitterdal

Jade Lawrence – Moorhead
Lawrence rushed for 88 yards on 10 carries, caught three passes for 35 yards and had two touchdowns, but it was his coaching that got him on this list. He’s taking credit for the idea for calling a hook and ladder with Moorhead trailing by one and less than 30 seconds left and on the Alexandria 20-yard line. It worked, he scored and the Spuds won 18-13.
